37, I started out on the pipeline in my teens in Mont Belvieu, by 20 I was a refinery operator in Pasadena on the ship channel. I'm all grow'd up now, wild times back then. Ha ha. Hell we used to hang out in a biker bar on the edge of Baytown back then, they were the only ones who would serve us before we were 21. Another interesting place. I may or may not have been chased out of there with a sawed of shotgun several times during bar fights. It didn't matter if you were looking to fight or not, when it happened you didn't have a choice.
I've seen him many times over the years and actually got to talk to him a few times over beers. My buddies band opened for him a few times in North Carolina while I was stationed there. I love his music but he is a strange dude.
Our country band was on stage at the Belle Starr in the early '80s when David Allan surprisingly popped up onto the stage and started singing his famous country ballad while we backed him. Immediately after that Razzy Bailey jumped up there with us, and sang the Gary Morris song Velvet Chains. I have no idea what they were doing there, but it was really a fun time, and a night we will never forget!!
