I just got back on Monday from my first ever trip to Alaska. To say I enjoyed myself would be an understatement. It was the most beautiful place I've ever been. My 11 year old son and I spent our first evening in Juneau and went to see the Mendenhall glacier. It and the waterfall nearby were a sight to see.
The following morning we flew on a single engine plane to the town of Hoonah, on Chicagof Island (same island where "Brown Town" is on the show Alaska Bush People). We were in Hoonah for 3 1/2 days and they were amazing.
We saw such a diversity of wildlife in such a short period of time. We saw sea otters, sea lions, hump back whales, killer whales (Orca), bald eagles, Sitka blacktail deer, and brown bears.
We caught 3 different kinds of salmon (king, coho, and "pink"), as well as several halibut. I brought home close to 50 lbs. of salmon and about 100 lbs. of halibut.
It was the most awesome trip I've ever taken. It was my first trip to Alaska but it certainly won't be my last. I'm don't know how to rotate the pictures so I guess you'll have to look at a couple of them sideways. Sorry.
