    There is no night in most of the state this time of year, and the further south you get the less chance you can even see it.

    Best chance is around 65 degrees N (Fairbanks latitude) and it does not get dark at all this time of year at this latitude

      Just got back myself. Spent 8 days. Rented an RV and crammed as much as possible into the trip. Went whale watching, Halibut fishing, sled dogging, fly fishing and atv'ing. Put over 1300 miles on the RV. The wife and loved it. We will go back. Also got some shots of the local wildlife

                  wow, great trip. we went last summer and as others have said loved every minute up there. what I didnt like was the 6+hr plane trip.

                    Spent 9 weeks there in 2005. Great vacation. Wife an I pulled a RV. There are gobs of web sights you can use to study the activities and festivals.

                        I'm gonna try and drag my wife up there one of these days! my grandad is 95 and was stationed in Adak for a while...love hearing his hunting and fishing stories from Alaska!

                              Can't wait till the 31st of July. Heading to Seattle to get on a ship on the 2nd of August for a week of sailing Alaska.
