There was a processor behind the taxidermy shop. I believe it was two separate businesses because it was doing business under a different name than the taxidermy shop. The guys doing the deer processing did not work in the taxidermy shop and they always did a great job on my deer. Their name was Santos processing. I'm not sure if their still there because I not been to them in a couple of years since I got on a different lease and do not go that way anymore.

Glad you got them back. It sucks for the folks on here that never recovered theirs. I would straight up have an aneurism if it happened to me

Wow, it is crazy to hear all of these stories. I killed my biggest deer ever last year, a mature 11 pt on public land, and had him shoulder mounted. I looked around at different taxi's but decided to go with a shop with a great reputation that has a storefront and has been around for 36 years. I paid for it, but my mount should be finished in the next week or 2, and I have no worries about getting it back or the quality. Honestly my biggest concern was an amateur doing a poor job on it. An 80% quality mount at 50% price isn't a deal in my book.

I really can't imagine guys going out of business and just dropping off the map. I've owned a couple smaller motorcycle shops and when I moved if there were any bikes left that hadn't been picked up or I hadn't been able to figure out I called the owners 2 weeks out from when I was closing shop and let them know that they needed to pick it up. I met them late when it was convenient for them and didn't charge anything if I wasn't able to get the bike 100%. It's crazy to me that people have to self-respect or concern of their reputation, or even just wanting to do the right thing.

Santos is still there (Great People) and they also do there own taxi work now. Havnt used them but the other "Still Life" left out a little over a year ago. I had the guy take antlers from a euro I did and attach them to a shoulder mount I provided. He did good and luckily I didn't have any issues. Heard many stories afterwards about him and glad I stayed away. All my trophies will go to Jason "Texantax" on here from now on!

I was going to stop in and take a look at his work last year but the shop never seemed to be open. Kind of a red flag for me so I never took him anything.

They did a great job for me too

Reason I asked is because I thought that guy quit doing public work and was working for a wealthy individual that liked to hunt all over the world.
Did not know he ever started public work again and the business may have been sold to another person too

I'm pretty sure it is two different individuals. I do remember the original "Still Life" taxidermist leaving to work for a wealthy person. I believe the guy that has caused so much grief bought the shop and later left Athens and opened up shop there in Noonday. His name is Brad Taylor!
