East of the Mississippi River, couple hundred miles east. Or as stated, South Padre in the late summer every once in a while.

It clears up some, but you won't find any Caribbean looking water here. Head east to Florida of you want some pretty gulf water. It'll get really clear and calm at times here, but it only happens every so often. August, September.

Exactly I fish Gálvez weekly. You can get conditions where it's gin clear and you can hit blue water on a calm day inside 20 miles of the jetties.

No question if you want to learn Galveston you need to learn to fish in wind and of colored water. But green, clear, and blue water is accessible as well.

Just left orange beach. From the pier, saw about a 12 ft huge tiger shark, black fin shark, a school of tarpon and blue fish were abundant. Actually sitting in traffic heading back now

It all depends on the wind, waves, and current. The best time to hit the surf is when we have a north wind blowing and it lays the surf down flat. If you can get several days in a row of no wind it'll also lay down. A day or two of north winds will clear the water up to where you can stand waste deep and see your feet. NOW, I've always had trouble catching fish in the surf when the water is that clear. There are certain times of the year where the beach in Matagorda is emerald green and crystal clear.

That said, some areas always seem to have a muddy or sandy color, regardless of the conditions.

We were in Padre several years ago.It was typical gulf water, for days.
one morning it was a really pretty green color.Very clear.I asked a fisherman in Port Isabell what changed, and he said "mother nature, finally flushed the toilet"Lol
