That's true. We will most likely be going in the middle of next week. Hopefully it won't be as bad.

      Another Galveston Question..

Fishermans warf is nice for date night but it is expensive to me anyway.
The ferry is free and the kids usually like the boat ride.
Walking the strand is fun but hot.

You could also check out Fort Travis if you go to the Bolivar side... not very appealing to me but there are always people up there checking it out.

Galveston State Park is close to Pirates Beach and has evening kayak trips, which are inexpensive and probably good for the kids. I think they just paddle around some of the West Bay marsh areas.

You could drive down to San Luis pass. There's a toll bridge down there to cross to the mainland. You can drive on the beach on the Brazoria County side between San Luis Pass and Surfside Beach if you wanted a beach to drive on.

Good casual place to eat is Jimmy's on the Pier. Kind of on the Western end of the seawall. Good burgers and great view of the water. Also, not sure if it's open this year or not, but just off the Seawall is Cafe Michael Burger. Pretty good burgers as well.

Couple people mentioned Shrimp & Stuff on 39th. Decent for the fried seafood variety. They also used to have a food truck on the West end down by West Bay Marina, so that could be an easy option from Pirates beach.

As for fine dining, the best 2 places for me are the Steak House at the San Luis Hotel or Rudy and Pacos. Both very good, but pricey.

The inlaws offered to take us to Shliterbahn, so we will be adding that to the list.
