My wife loves Shrimp N Stuff, but they are packed during the summer, not nearly fancy enough.

A cool place a lot of people like is The Gumbo Dinner. I'm kinda a Gumbo snob, only like mine or Grandma's. So I was not impressed, but the rest of the family loved the food. There other food was good and good atmosphere.
A long long time ago, there was a place down there that sold Gumbo... I think it was called "Franks" or something like that. I think they only sold it on certain days or something like that. I am not sure it was even a restaurant (somebody always went to pick it up for us.) The locals knew all about it.

Some of the best gumbo I've ever had.

There is also a typewriter museum that will bore most people to tears but I thought it was pretty cool.

They have a dance floor downstairs in the bar area.

La Kings Confectionery is on the Strand is amazing. Huge assortment of ice cream and candy. Mario's pizza has great pizza. Sea Wolf Park is a must.

Steve's landing has come around on the Bolivar side as well and has really good food... Arguably as good or better than Stingaree!

La Kings is also a must and already been requested by the kids! We have done Sea Wolf park but may go back this year to fish.

Eat at the Cajun Greek on 61st street and order the Born on the Island platter. You won't be disappointed. It's where the locals eat.

Where on Pirates beach? I'm at my family's place on pirates right now. Stingaree is great but do not… I repeat do not go on the weekend! The ferry wait could be well over an hour

Millers Seawall Grill is good food. It is actually like #4 rating of all of the Galveston restaurants.

Before I would drive across the ferry on a weekend, I would call the ferry office and see what the wait time is. It`s been brutal on the weekends. Would be a shame to go eat a good meal at Stingaree`s and then have a 2 hour wait to get back across the ferry. I know first hand.

The house is on Mutiny Ln. it's close to the main entrance for the neighborhood. How is the sea weed? The kids are hoping it's not as bad as last year.
