    stupid question...

I really should know the answer to this. taking my daughter to the coast this weekend. she is 15 and I am not fishing. I know she doesn't need a license, but does she need a saltwater stamp? if I help her net one, am I breaking the law?

Can you go a head and get her a license?...and you get one too? The $$$$ goes to tpwd and other wildlife needs

My best answer would be her- no on the license and no stamp because it wouldn't be associated with a license. You I'd recommend a license and stamp, easier to buy now than to dispute later.

Get yourself a license. You will end up fishing.

There is a not a youth fishing license for her to get.

And yes OP, she is exempt from the saltwater stamp at her age.

If you are assisting her in any way to fish or land a fish, you could be said to be fishing. Just like carrying fishing poles to or from an area.

It'd be a whole lot safer, and cheaper than a citation, with court cost and attorney's fees to try to prove your innocents, to get a license.

And like Smart said above, she doesn't need one, at the present.

Like said above....your daughter does not need a license.

If I were you I would at least buy a 3 day license during the dates you will be fishing. It would save you a lot of trouble in case you get checked

I would get yourself a license just to be safe even if you don't plan to fish. You get pulled over with fish in the cooler on the way home and guess who's fish it is then. Cause that isn't her truck or cooler that the fish will be in.

This seems to be some stellar advice from Nailhead. Err on the side of caution, the fishing license is not that expensive. Your call but I would take advice from the folks you are asking advice from. Good luck BTW.

Spend the $35 and get you a license. She doesn't need anything. I have seen "spectators" get tickets

My brother just bought a one day license for 11 bucks good for fresh or salt.

So if there is not a license available for sale in the system for her age, what do you suggest she "get"?...

She can get a 599 . Oversized redfish tag for
3.00. In case she gets real lucky. If you were
Found in possession of a oversized fish
With no liscense, it could get u a ticket?
