I call most men I don't know by sir, so take it as a compliment. Most of my friends I just call ******** or *******.

I say yes sir/ma'am to everyone regardless of age whether it's the guy from customer service, the guy at the drive thru, or the cashier at wal mart. It's polite and respectful.

Stop wearing your Brownie outfit during cookie sales & they may bite...

I think it's funny how folks react to this...my ex-boss hated being addressed but I couldn't get away from it. I used Sir & Señor across borders, job descriptions & age groups alike if I felt compelled.

Guess that's why I'm indifferent to it...don't even notice when I'm the old guy.

This is the way I am and the way I was raised! Only way to be!

                      No age requirement, just respect.

I never felt it had anything to do with age. The way I was raised if you didn't say Sir or Mamm then you got something a lot worse than being put in time out when you got home.
I was taught it's a sign of respect. I have had people try to correct me on that cause it ****** them off and I'm not apologizing for trying to show respect.

I'm 38, and any male that addresses me is called sir. Vet or outcast, Prince or pauper, CO or janitor, my 87 yr old Gather or my 3 yr old son. It's about showing everyone respect.

I said sir to an army guy today and he said "Don't call me sir, I know who my parents are".
