My daughter and her husband went and bought a matress Monday, newly weds., here is the deal, the matress they bought was not in stock so they were going to go somewhere else because they needed one, employee said if you buy from me I promise I can have it here Wednesday, and if it does not come in on Wednesday it will be free of charge, so they did the deal and paid for it, SIL took off work yesterday so we could go pick up, told him I would help, store never called and told them it was in, so should be free correct, that's what he said, they call today at noon, and salesman said O I am so sorry I forgot to call but yes it came in first thing Wednesday, daughter said that was not deal, you said you would call and you didn't so should be free, he is saying now he can't do that but would knock off a $100, should Dad get involved and talk to Boss, fell like cause there young he is doing this, what yall say.

That has to be a tough one. Your natural instincts are to take care of it for your daughter. Now she has a husband she needs to learn to trust and work as a team. Maybe a little "free advice" but, I think you need to watch and coach from the sideline.

Edit: If you are actually asking what we would do in that scenario, I would get my money back and walk.

Pretty sure it wasn't in writing or the thread would read "My daughter got a free mattress!!". I cant stand people who go back on their word. It ****** me off more than I can stand but sounds like you might just have to take the Benjamin and roll with it. I would of gone up there and acted like I was just there to help load and become all buddy buddy with the guy before asking him to see the truck delivery receipt from Wednesday. I'd love to see his face

What if the mattress was actually there yesterday but the sales guy had an emergency and couldn't come to work and wasn't able to call you? Technically the mattress was there on Wednesday, you'll just didn't go and pick it up.

The salesman was probably just BSing , I doubt if he would be able to give a mattress away if he didn't make delivery. I would simply walk away from the deal . Tell him to keep his $100 you probably can it cheaper somewhere else.

Make them show you the shipping list for delivery showing that it was there on Wednesday. Has to be a record of it arriving in their inventory....
