Sounds like he is way ahead of me. If I met him, I would know him by his trail name only... Everyone uses a trail name for the most part. Because I evidently resemble and sound like Jeff Lebowski...I am called "The Dude" out here.

The trail took me through farmland and cornfields this morning. I am currently in Boiling Springs, PA. Very cool town.

Up until now the trail ran mostly through mountains and ridges. This morning was the first time I saw corn and soybeans.i

Did you get hit by any of those storms tonight? I'm east of you and got dumped on pretty good.

Yesterday we walked into the Pennsylvania rocks...hikers have been warning us about them long before Virginia. I think I will need a new pair of boots after the rocks.

What is your average and greatest water load? Do you have a lot of dry camps or do you only carry what you need to drink and camp new streams and such? Also what purification method are you using?

The rocks don't look any worse than those on a Philmont trek. But a blown out boot can really impact the health of your feet.

And the PA rocks situation gets worse. Holy god don't come with weak ankles or crummy boots!!! My thought this morning was.... Darn I should have booked a western elk hunt for October. My legs are definately going to be in top shape for back country hiking!

Today is day one with my Osprey Exos pack. My Gregory blew out (1,100 miles) and I had REI ship a new Osprey to the Doyle Hotel in PA.
