      Wow, I think that is a jagurundi. They are extremely rare

      Hair is too short and thick and dark to be an opussum

              The documented range of jaguarundi butts up against Edwards county as can be seen on the map at the following link:


              However, some have been spotted much further outside this range. Any sighting is extremely rare, even within their established range. Often times when people say they have seen a mysterious "large black cat", it is not a black puma, but one of these.

                It looks exactly like a possum and nothing like a jaguarundi.

                        Opossums have white faces. This animal is black. The only light areas on it are caused by a reflection of the IR

                              It's a possum, just don't see'um stretched out like that very often. Blow the pic up and it's really easy to pick out the possum features. Not all possums are light, we see quite a few that are almost black every year.
