It's a possum, just don't see'um stretched out like that very often. Blow the pic up and it's really easy to pick out the possum features. Not all possums are light, we see quite a few that are almost black every year.

So is it fair to say you got lots of experience in "stretching out" possums late at night when no one is around?

Probably not many on here are old enough to know what a Hoover Hog is but that is a Hoover Hog. Hoover hogs can take on many forms and shapes depending on what part of the USA you live in.

Opossums have white faces. This animal is black. The only light areas on it are caused by a reflection of the IR

Could be a black opossum even. I've never seen one personally but they do exist.
