Ok guys I would like to explain myself but first off I want to apologize to the ones I hurt by my statement but I was wanting it be directed to the S O B guides no names mentioned I have been stood up also and BELEIVE me I wasn't a happy person but yes there are some out there that you pay good money to and by no means should be in a people pleasing business. It only takes one time and they are taken out the call list and poco you are my number uno and I am a repeat client of yours once again I am sorry for hurting feelings but it does put a bad taste in the mouth when this happens and I am glad this individual found a quick replacement with the good help of the gs and his day sounds to have turned into a GREAT DAY

I understand where you are coming from! Had a guy cancel on us last minute for a family emergency last Summer. I was told from multiple sources he was on another bay system the week prior and after everyday and the emergency was just an excuse. I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle, what I do know is how he handled the situation was a problem for me.
The guy he set us up with instead was a real winner though. Our 1st clue was him telling us he "wasn't actually a guide yet so if a GW ask we are just friends out fishing". He did several shady things throughout the day to be topped off by stepping on a short Redfish to make it measure. I have never been so ready to get off a boat in my life.

Guides in my opinion are responsible for way more than just trying to put fish in the box. It's our responsibility to provide a safe trip that can educate folks on how to catch more fish, what to look for, how/where to safely navigate your boat, be personable, and lastly, stay on fish or pre-fish to give the customer the best chance at catching fish while on their trip. Many times we have been surrounded by hundreds of fish in a flat and folks just can't catch them. Or, there are people that think they know what & how to fish and refuse to listen to the guide and therefore lose or miss bites/fish. What you get out of a guided trip or what you expect out of a guided fishing trip, typically can indicate what type of person you really are.

I haven't used a fishing guide, but that is why I would use one. Most of the time when I pay for something, I want to be able to learn from it. But that is just how I am wired. I do think alot of folks hire guides for their boat only though and ability to get to the fish.

I am in a situation, where I have been looking for a guide to help accelerate the learning curve for fly fishing the surf. I don't need the guide for the boat... just for the knowledge. Hard part is finding that kind of guide for hire.

Well the only pic i have on my phone is this one. Caught lots of trout and my wife caught 2 reds... 1 was anout 27"
I caught my biggest trout as well
Guide was kevin( not sure of last name) but ill get it from my wife.
He was nice and treated us good even though he had already gone home after his clients stood him up. He gave us a break on the cost and we had lots of fun

Been there done that. Postponed on us 3 or 4 times, 'emergency' fishing a tournament etc. NEVER got to fish with that guy. At least it was bought at DU greenwing event and the money got used for something

I guess that's why we shouldn't be paying so much for 5 stinking fish and 4 hrs of fishing

hopefully you're getting a better experience than catching a 5 fish limit, and getting back to the dock as soon as possible. if not, you're going with the wrong person.
