Just like the title says. I am going in this Friday for shoulder surgery, and am going to be down a while. I need some good books to read to keep me busy. Otherwise I will just make the folks around me crazy. Mostly I prefer non-fiction. History, military history, current events, guns, hunting, whatever. Lots of subjects interest me. What are some good ones you guys have read?

Really enjoyed Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.
Just finished Undaunted Courage--the story of Lewis and Clark. Great read as well.
Right now I'm reading The Revenant and enjoy it (think it's a little more fictional compared to the ones mentioned above).
Just got American Buffalo (Steven Rinella--aka Meateater) and America the Beauitful (Ben Carson) in the mail, looking forward to both of those.

Hunting with a Bow and Arrow
Saxton Pope
written 1922 or 23
Read about Pope shooting Cali blacktails with a yew longbow and home made cedar arrows with metal home made broadheads. At 90 yards. The section on the Yellowstone Grizzly hunt is great.
Red Storm Rising
Tom Clancy
Blindman's Bluff
Sontag and Drew
I worked on submarine combat systems in the early 90s. The Clancy book is amazing how close it is to correct, and the other one shoulda landed the authors in jail for what was disclosed. In my opinion. Both good reading.

Lots of good suggestions here, several I have already read. I will download on my Kindle, that is my favorite way to read now. Keep the suggestions coming, I am always looking for good books.
Bill- I was on USS Pintado in the early 90's when she did a refit and had the reactor core replaced at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. I think I have read all of Clancy's books, and they are excellent.
