Who waters there house to cool off?

So my house has no shade trees and is brick and holds heat like crazy!! So I water the roof and bricks to help cool it down. Anyone else do this? Also I've been thinking about putting a sprinkler on my roof and put on a timer for about 15 minutes at 1900.... Any ideas?

My grandfather has watered his roof to cool it off for as long as I can remember

I water portions of my lawn for 10 minutes at a time to cool them off, but never my home. Interesting idea though...

My dad that to our swamp cooler back in the late 70's/early 80's back in west Texas.

Those swamp coolers actually dropped the temp about 10 degrees in about 10 minutes

My dad does that when he is working in his shop. Cools it down pretty good.

Better be careful, do that too much and your house will grow and you'll have To buy more furniture.

I used to live in a cheap trailer house.
I would spray down my roof most every evening.
                  Made a big difference

I've seen homes in Arizona that have systems that spray mist on roofs & door openings

Was watching some chick home show with the wife...a guy in California built a house where he could put 3-4 inches of water on his flat roof. Kept the house cooler.

Cool the roof and sides with water. Helps the A/C. My A/C is running nearly 18 hours a day.

This is why I still do it when we had a bachelor pad we'd go spray water on roof and sides and if you were sitting inside you could literally feel the heat dissipate

A misting system on the roof sounds like a good idea...
Capture the run-off from the gutters in a barrel.
                            Then reculate it.......
Sounds like a business plan to me.....
