    Fixed blade broadhead for ELK?

I am looking at 3 heads for my next elk hunt.
    Shuttle T's
    Slick Trick Magnums
    Ram Cats
which one would you take and why? Any personal experience with these on Elk appreciated,

Several years ago I would have said shuttle t's. Their quality isn't what it used to be after trophy ridge bought them. So of the two that leaves I would go with the slick tricks. I went to them after the shuttle t's went downhill and have been very pleased. Ram cats are making quite a name for themselves as well so I don't think you could go wrong with either. If I were you I'd buy a pack of each and see which ones shoot the best out of your setup.

Seen a lot of broadheads used on elk. Of those three, I sure like the Ram Cats. Had some hunters using them with great results. I have recommended them to other hunters ever since.

Hands down, RAMCATS. Larger cutting diameter than Slick Tricks! Where can you find a 1 3/8' cut on a 100 grain head or 1 1/2" on a 125 grain head except for the 2 blades solid heads like German Kinetics and such? Can't can you?

I'll see your Ramcats and raise you a Simmons Landshark. You don't have to sacrifice cutting diameter to still get the mechanical advantage increases associated with a 2-blade head. But of the three your mentioned I would rank the cats at the top followed by the tricks. I simply wouldn't shoot a shuttle t.

Based on the Elk I saw taken last season with a Slick Trick Magnum, that would be my choice. Or just my normal set-up( Not one of your listed options). NAP Thunderheads. If your rig is really tuned well, they fly perfect. I shoot 50+ yards with mine and have no planing.

I vote Ramcats! I wouldn't even think about shuttle T. I never have liked them though.

Shot my elk 1/4 to with slick trick mags and it did great. I shot a caribou at 60 and a moose which was significantly larger than my elk,(50% larger) and they did great. Slick Trick mags always get my vote

We did have them brake on a mule deer. Guy with us cut his hand pretty good on the piece while gutting it. We had a few brake but were not sure if it was in the animals or after passing through. I guess they have different blades now. But he has switched to exodus. As have others of our group. But a lot of people use them, so maybe we just had bad luck. In the afternoons we shoot used broad heads at chew can lids in a gravel mound and the exodus holds up the best out of any of them. (We don't shoot the kenetics into the dirt at the lids, to expensive, and harder to come by) Others use german kenetics, slick trick, VPA, and a few are using solids with good success( but limited right now to just a hand full of animals with the solids).
