    I have a 2012 4x4 f 250 with that motor, didn't need a diesel anymore
It runs good, but won't tow with a diesel especially steep hills at high altitude. I've pulled about 18k pound trailer with it when I had to and it handled it no problem just went a little slower up the hills. If you are going to tow heavy loads often go with a the diesel, if you are only pulling under 10k loads the gas engine works fine

I drive a 1500 Dodge with a Hemi pulling a new 32' travel trailer. I have added air lift and K&N air filter. It will pull it but I am in the market for a Diesel due to torque and MPG. Pulled mine this weekend from Midlothian TX to Lake Texoma on the OK side. Got 8.2 on the way up and 7.1 on the way back bucking wind. I have followed my buddies to the Guadalupe river, and they both had diesels one Chevy 2500 and one 250 Ford. The would run off and leave me on hills on a regular basis. If you are pulling far I would suggest a diesel you will be much more satisfied with the extra power.

I have to disagree with some that a gas engine won't pull as well as a diesel. Depends on what specific engines and gear ratios you're talking about. I remember the 6.9 that wouldn't hardly untrack itself. The 7.3s claim to fame is not so much pulling power as it is reliability. I owned several V-10s that would pull anything you hooked them to. Gas mileage was better than V-8s loaded or empty. I put 150/230K on several in the oilfield and put one coil on an Excursion and one fuel pump on an F 250. Never had problems pulling anything that a 3/4 ton should be pulling.

That said, now that I drive a half ton, I also own a diesel F 350 to pull my tractor/backhoe/dozer.

For general pulling, they are fine, but the mileage is horrible, even when not pulling.

Never again. I was bought one to use as a work truck. No power, 8mpg, and then the tranny failed. For constant pulling, a gasser just doesn't have the torque nor durability. You can haul all day long with it, just can't pull nothing.
              My experience anyways

I recently acquired a 2013 4wd F250 with the 6.2l gas engine. Disappointing is an understatement. It has less pep than my 2002 1/2 ton Sierra! Total slug. I figured it would do better under a bit of a load but when I pulled my little 5x10 trailer with my Teryx on it, it was even worse. Couldnt believe it. To make things worse on my trip to Laredo I averaged 9.9mpg pulling that little load. It pulls my trailer no better than my old half ton and gets worse mileage all around. Pure disappointment.

I recently purchased a 2015 3.5 Ecoboost with the max trailering package. I tow a 33' travel trailer that is around 8,000 lb loaded. The truck pulls just fine. I towed it 250 miles a week ago and averaged 8.1 mpg (hand calculated, i filled up right before i left and then filled up as soon as I took the trailer off). on the highway I ran about 72mph most of the time. The truck had no problems what so ever. even going up and down the small hills in OK Arbuckle area. Unless you are towing a 5th wheel not sure you would need the 3/4 ton
