This was the only thing I found that worked. Cut the stalks a few inches above ground level. Drilled some 3/4" holes in the stump with a spade bit and filled the cavity with acid.

Dig up the stump. It will take some effort but it is not that bad depending on the soil type. I have done it several times.

Herbicide + diesel works wonders

We do this for Mesquite. Remedy from Tractor Supply mixed and spray right after icut the big trees. The ones we dont cut we spray around the perimeter. Had a good kill rate on Mesquite, I would think it would work for Banana Trees, maybe?

Cut and dig out as much as you can, get a Roto Tiller and till the roots as deep as you can.
Trouble if you put any chemical down nothing is going to grow in that spot for a long time
