How do you kill a banana tree?

Got one growing on the other side of your fence that keeps shooting up under my side of the fence. Every time I chop it to the ground, 2 new shoots pop. I cut it, leave town and by the time I'm back there are mutiple "trees" 4-5 feet high. I'm going to replace the fence soon (not anticipating help from the neighbor who won't even edge his yard or put his trash can away) and I'm not going to sit and watch vegetation ruin it. Tonight I cut everything on my side to the ground. Will pouring gasoline in the open stalks work?

You got one growing on the other side of my fence? Don't kill it. I like a banana split every now and then.

X2 on the salt. if it doesn't work, try planting Monkey Grass next to it. They'll eat the bananas.

                    Herbicide + diesel works wonders

Good luck. With an uncooperative neighbor, that mKes it tough. Otherwise you could just take a grubbing hoe to it and get it all up. I would try the weed killer as has been mentioned. With those big leaves, they should absorb a lot of it.

DO NOT USE HERBICIDE OR ANY TYPE Or Flammable ....
All this will end up in yards and will get foot traffic and transfer into homes and other plants, wildlife, water and drank and eaten by various animals, insects, pets.
Good ole knee root digging when you replace fench. My 2 cents

I cut it off even with the ground and put herbicide on the cut just a lil straight round up what i used. Toasted it never came back. I had no problems I use herbicides all the time only a problem if you not careful.

Bury sheet metal vertically as a bar academic. Or dig and find the runners, cut, and tar the "wound".

I didn't mean to make it sound that harsh. He's a young kid with a young family and works all the time. I'm just being an old fart.
