No he is not. He is however a draft dodger who let good men die in his stead.
The people that let good men die where corrupt politicians. Clay didn't send anyone to war. I don't agree with Clays politics but he was a private individual that didn't have the power to force Americans to fight a war - only politicians and government can do that.
Ali did not play crazy, like nugent, stood out in public said screw yalls war -put his career on the line an Supreme Court agreed with him, so he did not dodge.
His passing did affect me, and I don't mind sharing why.
When I was a little kid in the late 60's/early 70's, my dad was a huge fan of Ali. One time he sat me down in front of the TV and said, this might be the best boxer to ever step into the ring. From then on, we always watched boxing together. Boxing is something my dad and I always shared, and Ali's passing is a reminder to me that life is moving along too fast, and the days with dad here on earth are certainly numbered. So, I choose to remember the athlete, the boxer, and some of the greatest times shared with dad.
