X2. I have a Switchback xt & love shooting the thing. As stated its not the fastest but it awesome to shoot. I can shoot it all day long. Smooth, quite & not heavy. Every time I think about selling it I shoot it first & relieze how dumb it would be to get rid of it. It's one of the easiest shooting bows I've got. In order on my bows would be Switchback, Spyder 30, Pse Drive, Nitrium Turbo, Arena 30. Good luck with what ever you get. Shoot 'em all & get the bow that want don't settle on one.

There is not a bad bow on the market. Even some of the box store bows are great. Every bow will feel different to every user. A smooth draw bow @ 28" may feel completely different @ 30". I've shot "smooth" bows that draw like he77. I've shot harsh bows that were smooth as butter to me. Consider dropping down to 65# or even 60#. Valley, creep and backwall are my biggest concern. Go shoot what ever your local shop has and go from there. I've owned just about every brand out there in the last 25+ years. They have all been great with the exception of maybe a couple.
I shoot a 65# PSE DNA SP and I love it!

Thanks fellas. I'm ruling out used, at least for now.

My plan was to go to Double G this afternoon after taking my wife to her Dr. appointment in Round Rock (since there are no local bow shops here), but it looks like I'm going to be busy working an arson all day, so maybe I can go shoot some bows tomorrow.

Go shoot em all and buy what YOU like best, not what someone else tells you to....

Don't write a check until you have PERSONALLY shot every bow on the market! Your money, you decide.

Shoot as many as you can, but since you are going to Double G...

Bowtech BTX-31: Three settings of power, classic and smooth means you can tailor the bows feel to your style of shooting. Plus it has the new micro tune disc which makes tuning a breeze without a press. It is a true two cam bow (which I prefer) and even though I don't really like short ATA bows this one is a winner.

Hoyt Carbon Defiant: Probably the best short ATA bow as far as feel and how the string interacts with your face. The DFX cams really do a great job of making this bow feel longer than 31" ATA; of course you can also get them in longer ATA if you want. 7" brace height makes this an easy shooter. DFX cam is cam 1/2" system.

Elite Synergy: Longest ATA and heaviest (4.4 lbs) but what a shooter. The Impulse 34 also has similar specs but a shorter brace height. True hybrid or binary cam system (no yokes).

                        Shoot several.
The three that that I narrowed it down to were the Mathews Halon, Bowtech Prodigy, & Elite Energy. I thought the Prodigy felt the best after the shot, but the Elite had the smoothest draw and the most let-off. I ended up with the Elite.
                        Good luck on your decision.

I shot the Halon 5 and 6, Prime Rize, Expedition, 2 Hoyt Carbon bows, a HCA Axis and X12, Obsession M7 and a Def Con 6, New Breed Blade SS and a Bowtech BTX and others. It came down to the Bowtech BTX and the Obsession Def Con 6. The Def Con 6 is sitting in my back bedroom right now. AT 70#'s the draw is a little stiff, but it felt better than the others and way better than some. Both the Bowtech and Def Con 6 have great valleys, solid back walls and are dead quiet and no hand shock. Speed wise, all these bows were withing 12 fps of each other. I drove close to 1000 miles and shot a ton of different bows over 2 days and chose the Obsession. It was extremely close between the Bowtech and Obsession. The Halons shot great also, but are really heavy.

Well, I'm on hold for a bit. No test shooting today. Busted my rear investigating an arson all day, and now Dad's in the ER again, still waiting on CT to come back to tell us what is causing his chest pain. Praying he's just sore from physical therapy, but something tells me we're going to spend another week in ICU with pneumonia. Say a prayer please.
