No, that's just a way to hide the flavor. Quality beef doesn't need to be smoked and then grilled. Would hurt more than it would help. All good beef needs is coarse kosher salt, and fresh ground black pepper. And life is too short to eat crappy beef.

lol. Don't sweat it bro. They are ok with men using womens restrooms but not ok with men throwing down a mean steak in the kitchen. Seems like they are hiding more than just the flavor of their beef. That looks cooked to perfection. I just ordered a #5 from WB. I'll just have to use my imagination I guess

It's ok if you identify yourself as the wife. You won't get made fun of anymore

Not all of us have to put everything in a smoker. If you want the flavor of smoke eat brisket. If you want to know what a real steak is give this a try. Oh, and a real man can cook inside and out. I'm sure your wife and/or mother appreciate your opinions.

Just ran a search for oven steak since its nasty out. TBH came through for me big . . . wife said best steak she'd had in a loooong time. I'm officially on board with the oven steak movement, if there ever was such a thing. thanks
