Snake ID help please!

This was taken in my friends back yard. We couldn't find it though.
Is that a hognose?

Can't tell from that pic. Kinda looks like a water mocassin though. Fat/thick, and has similar markings.

Sure looks like a cottonmouth to me.

Its either a diamondback water snake or cotton mouth. Since the snake got away I would assume cottonmouth until proven otherwise.

Yeah sure, i will ask his wife to get a little closer to the snake to take a picture.

Looks like a water moccasin.

Water moccasins don't have dark side blotches or square patterns down their back like that.
