My wife is less scared of snakes than she is of birds. Her mother is terrified of birds, and has past it along. I put up a hummingbird feeder the other day, and she said she thought it was a little too close. Talk about irrational fears, lol.

Seen about 5 different species!
Both snakes: Getting dressed to head out hunting and kept hearing something moving in the knee high grass next to my truck. I was on the Refuge so no snakes were harmed.Last edited by Thumper; 04-29-2016, 03:04 PM.

Mine doesn't care much either way. She's used to having snakes around since she's married to me. She's not crazy about them crawling around the house, but doesn't freak out when she finds one, even the one she stepped on. Venomous ones don't get her too worked up either. "Just take care of it," she would tell me, but she doesn't go running off and screaming like . . . oh, never mind.

When you see an adult Bushmaster raise up, make direct eye contact with you and come after you for daring to open its cage to feed it it puts our little puppy dog snakes in perspective..
The only real defense against a venomous snake is watching where you are and not doing stupid stuff...no one is fast enough to shoot one that is posing an actual threat so just be careful.
Snakes are to be respected for the danger the canext power, not feared because fear leads to irrational behavior which gets your @ZZ bitten.

My wife grew up in Callisburg, TX (east of Gainesville) so she has been around snakes all of her life. While she won't exactly freak out like some, she still isn't a fan of them. We live in Las Colinas so she doesn't have to worry about it these days but out at the ranch she knows to keep an eye out.
