I think the snake threads help some to learn how to identify harmless snakes. I've a remarkable turn around in the number of posters who think all snakes are bad.

    Snake ID please?.......

Wife is terrified of snakes. Can't even see them on tv. Aside from that she really has no other phobias.

Nearly all snakes will only make you hurt yourself if you know what I mean

That's one bad dude! Had one under the porch at my fish camp last week. Wasn't able to get him, and wasn't crawling under to find him.

My wife freaks at snakes........ I don't kill many. Only one I kill on sight is a cottonmouth.... I let the rest walk when I'm in the woods

My wife will make an exit. Even if it's a rock wall.

My GF is even afraid of the word. She don't even have to see one.

My wife will take a pic and send it to me and ask if it's dangerous. If I say good snake she'll pick it up and relocate it. If she can't get ahold of me she'll just go get the tongs and remove it.

My wife calls me or tells me to get over there, but she will stay and watch where they move to until I get there..

My wife is scared of them, but not enough to quit fishing our pond, so I'll give her credit for that.

I don't have a girlfriend anymore but when I did she was afraid of them.

My 7 year old sister likes all of them. She's not allowed to catch rattlesnakes yet but when she's old enough I'm sure she will. If I catch one and don't bring it to her so she can see it and she finds out she gets mad. She was raised around them though so it makes a difference. She'll pick a 5 foot coachwhip up out of a box and won't think twice about it. She sees her brothers handle rattlesnakes and everything else so it's nothing to her. When you're around it all the time it wears off on ya I guess.

My wife worked with Gaboons, Fer-de-lances and Bushmasters at her last job. She has no fear of puny little rattlesnakes and cotton mouths lol

When you see an adult Bushmaster raise up, make direct eye contact with you and come after you for daring to open its cage to feed it it puts our little puppy dog snakes in perspective..
The only real defense against a venomous snake is watching where you are and not doing stupid stuff...no one is fast enough to shoot one that is posing an actual threat so just be careful.

Snakes are to be respected for the danger the canext power, not feared because fear leads to irrational behavior which gets your @ZZ bitten.
