I'm pretty sure a Donkey will go full on honey badger on a coyote. Donkey don't care!

That would be very appreciated. I'm going to talk to the owner before I do anything though. Reading the responses on here has me more worried now. I don't want to make the problem worse than it already has become. I greatly appreciate your offer, and would be happy to compensate you for loaning it to me if we decide to go that route.

      All the best,
      Glenn

Never heard of the more you kill the more there are....doesnt seem to be the case where we hunt anyway. We really hunted em hard for a couple of years shooting every one we saw calling trapping ect. Aint seen one in about 2 years now. Even tried calling a couple times and nada.

To briefly sum it up, often when you hear all the coyotes howling away at night, they are taking a census of what other packs are in the area. When they begin to notice less responses to their howls/calls, it triggers a response to produce larger litters in order to re-populate the area. The podcast went on to further say that coyotes do a good job of regulating their own numbers and typically won't over populate an area, and will reach a carrying capacity and cease to grow in numbers. Granted what we humans consider 'over populated with coyotes' likely doesn't translate to what the coyotes consider. That is just my summary of what the meateater podcast said- I still kill them when I can. First time I had heard those thoughts on coyotes, just passing them along.
Wow. Good info. Thank you. I wonder (I'm being serious - so if I'm being stupid... please tell me so) if we recorded coyotes howling, and then killed these two, but played the recording of the howling coyotes periodically at night.... (see where I'm going with this?)

            All the best,
            Glenn

Trapping is more affective than calling. Kill enough of em and there'll be less.

Shoot every one you can.... its simple. I wouldnt worry much about them having more offspring to compensate the ones you kill.

Dont overthink this. Kill them, kill every last one you see and go about your business.

Sure thing, check out The Meateater podcast- lots of good huntin' talk and info.

IMO that sounds like a waste of time (playing the recording).

I would kill them all and knock those coyote numbers down in the area. Sure they will repopulate and move back in- just keep killing them. It's not like killing them will cause the population to explode overnight.

If any more livestock gets killed, I would drag it into an open field and spotlight over it for a night or two.

Trapping is a great way to kill them and there are plenty of Youtube videos as well as the TBH 'official trapping thread' to learn from. I took out 5 coyotes and two fox in 3 weeks with two traps on one acre earlier this year- and I barely even consider myself an amateur trapper, much less any sort of expert.

I thought she would as well. Unfortunately, they think this one is about to give birth any day now, and for that reason, I don't think she has been feeling very "donkey-like" recently.

What specific trap / bait would you recommend?

When enough coyotes are killed in an area to create a " vacuum " of sorts, naturally other coyotes will drift into that space. Then you kill them, and everybody is happy except the coyotes. Win-win !
