Have a couple buddies that do a lot of day work for some big ranches around crystal beach, they see them fairly often

I didn't think diamond backs were up this close to Houston.

I know Timber bugs are in East Texas but dang, too close to home.
Western Diamondbacks are very common along the intercostal, as far east as Galveston. Trinity River seems to be their range boundary along the coast. From 1977 to 1988 I caught well over 2,500 along the intercostal mostly on Bryan Beach.

Just below the knee is a high strike, most likely a really big snake. Prayers sent for full recovery.

I've lived my whole life in Brazoria county, and I've never heard of rattle snakes along the coast. I'm used to seeing timber rattlers at our deer lease in moss hill. I'll have to be more careful from now on.

I was born and raised on Galveston's west end. My folks still lives there. Dad killed this one in their garage couple days ago. He was under the truck and dad ran over him backing out not knowing he was even there. I tell ya, the sand dunes are infested with them. This guy was covered in mud, he's been living in the swamp across the street. I get the chills when I see people walking through the dunes. Pelican island is also full of them.

Yep, all over the salt marshes, islands, and dunes all along the coast. My brother killed one at his canal house at Tiki just north of the Galveston causeway. My FIL killed one swimming in Christmas Bay near his camp. And a buddy of mine got bit at the Sea Isle boat ramp years ago. All that said, after 50+ years (**** I'm old!) around the water, marshes, and beaches... I've never personally seen one.
