Went on a turkey/axis hunt past 4 days. I took a axis doe and my wife got two nice Toms. Picked up my wife this morning from her stand and decided I'd shoot her crossbow (Barnett Predator) using an old bolt to unload it. I was holding it freehand and didn't realize my thumb was sticking up until I fired and immediately knew what had happened. 10 seconds later, the pain hit......and the blood. Luckily, I had a trauma pack with clotting packs and we got the bleeding stopped (we were 2 hours from the closest medical care). 8 stitches later and I've reinforced why I don't care for crossbows. I'm very thankful it was me and not my wife. The good news is after witnessing it, my wife wants to sell the crossbow and get a compound[emoji106]
