    Predator Engines?

Harbor Freight is running a deal on their predator engines. Looking into the 13hp and the 22hp for a possible mud motor build. Anybody on here have any experience with them?

It was a while ago but on one of the HF threads people said they've been using em on go carts and such with no issues

I put one on a gokart at Christmas for my kids. Runs like a beast.

Nice, I have a 14ft flat bottom im wanting to get a mud motor on it for duck season. with the special on those engines I could get that and a longtail kit for under 1k. Saw a guy on youtube with the exact build

I have a build on here somewhere of the one I did but I used a 16hp duromax the 22hp predator is what I would use you will always want more hp.

Think that would a bit heavy for the back of a 14ft flat bottom? Not arguing just trying to learn a bit lol

I saw a 13hp long tail on a 14ft Jon and they would sink it if they had to slow down a lot. So I would add pods if you go the 13hp route. I put the 7hp and gokart hop up kit on my old 14ft. It did pretty good with just me in it. I used mine in a river and we didn't need to go more than 5mph at 4 in the morning in a flooded river. It probably jumped it up to 10hp. One time I had 3 people, dog and decoys. It pushed it pretty ok but more power would've been nice.
I'd say get the 13hp with hunt deck or pods and put a go kart hop up kit on it, and a bigger prop.

I put a 6.5hp one on a tiller. That thing is stout. I'm a fan, especially since I got it for $90.

I'll usually have just 1 other guy in the boat. Where I'll be there's some stretches of open water to go through but not much. My buddy has a 20hp go devil but it is pretty heavy. I figured the 13 would have been good since I will have some 200yd or so open water stretches. I'll get pods eventually, just gotta get something on the boat lol really appreciate all the input! Definitly enjoy hearing all the opinions

I put the 5.5 hp vertical shaft on a push mower 4 years ago and still runs strong and cranks on first pull every time. Can't beat them for the price, I paid 90 for mine on sale.

Well from the feedback seems like they're pretty decent engines, thanks!

Yep. Did the same about a year ago. The 6.5hp runs great. Had to throttle it back on my son's go kart.

This engine is a Honda gx390 clone (13hp) which has been bored out to a 16hp so you get more hp out of the same size of engine.

The longtail I built off of it. I used the motor The past three seasons and have never had a problem.

I'm not familiar with the 13 and 22 HP motors but I have one on the kids gocart and it's fast and powerful. Good motors. And you can find parts to rebuild them on eBay CHEAP.
