In the meantime, I am getting my "dont eat me" gear together (870 full of buckshot, carhart coat and bibs, welding gloves) and waiting for the "we need you to come up here" call. That would not be a good sign!
Where are you, Mac?

Thanks guys. Evidently, it did not go down the way I was originally told. My guy went in and looked for over an hour with no sign of blood or hair where the bear was originally at. Supposedly when the hunter shot, the bear spun and started snapping at his side which is classic "hit to far back" activity, but there was no sign of the bear. The hunters want me to come pack themdown to low camp tomorrow so I will be going up and checking it out for myself. I just talked to the hunters and between the two they have missed one shot at a bull elk, 6 shots at mulies, 3 shots at bear, and killed one buck in 3 1/2 days. They are off to a hell of a start. Cant reckon why they are ready to come down yet, but they have been seeing a lot of bears, so I am going to guess that may have more than a little to do with it.

Could be worse, you could of had a wounded bear... They may be "off to a hell of a start", but it appears that it beats the alternative.
