Good morning folks. I am a couple of months shy of 60 yrs, and a relative newby on this site. but get a good sense of community here. I have had some middle back pain for about 6 months, nothing requiring pain pills, so I haven't had it looked at. In the last 2 weeks I began to experience leg weakness and loss of muscle control. After several mri's and a couple of ct's and near total loss of contrl of my legs, it is determined I have what is most likely have renal cancer and a small tumor on my lumbar spine. Doc's have confidence they can fix it. Back surgery to remove the small tumor, and kidney removeal later. Steroid treatment has me walking with assistance, swelling on spinal cord reduced. So outlook is good, they fell it can be arrested as this is fairly treatable. I'm surrounded by family and friends, so not facing this alone. Looks like I will have several weeks of downtime, so hope to be posting more here when I can contribute. Good luck everyone, and try not to ignore all of those everyday aches and pains you have.

Well now you have a clear sense of direction as to what you have to do. I pray that the doctors will be able to successfully rid your body of the cancer and that you may be able to get back to normal every day living. Your attitude is good. Maybe you can get back to hunting shape by next fall.
How long have you had that kind of pain? Did you think it was a disc problem initially? Were there other symptoms that made you think it was more than just a bad back?

Almost to the Day 1 year ago
Almost to the day one year ago I had surgery to remove my right kidney because it was the size of a football caused by RCC tumor.
You can beat this....I have friends that have and don't listen to the current set of stats about life expectancy...etc.
Find a good Doctor. RCC is a different kind of cancer and you need to see a oncologist that handles RCC.
Good Luck!
