    Usajobs.gov questions

For those of you that have gone through the process of getting hired by applying through usajobs.gov, what was your experience in the time from your application being reviewed to being referred or not referred? Also, from the time it was referred, how long did it take to get a call or get notice that someone else was hired? I have a half dozen jobs that I was referred to the hiring authority that I'm waiting on, some for a several months, and some that have been reviewed but no notice has been sent to me that I was or wasn't referred.

Went through them in 2010 and it took a while after I took the testing to hear back, got hired at my present job while waiting. They emailed me about a month after I had started this job asking me to interview.
Sad part is the letter I got last year telling me their site had been hacked and all my information was in the mix, along with my wifes. They did provide the name of a company to use in the event my identity was stolen and used elsewhere.

I hope I hear about some of them soon. I hate the wait!

A good friend of mine works for FEMA. It is a very long process to get hired for a Federal position. A lot of times the jobs are listed before the funds are actually approved for the position. Good luck, it take time.

A long time ago 15 or so years ago I applied and interviewed roughly a week later. I had been working at the job for a month or so and had to reapply on USAJobs due to some error. Sad thing is I had to get some information from them for my current job and the records facility housed in Denver had burnt down and they had no records of my job with them. I too got the letter a couple of months ago telling me my information was stolen. Good luck in your application process.

I hear ya! I've done a lot of Gov. contracts, and they aren't too tight with OUR money. Not very timely though.

The process unfortunately can take three months.... plus or minus a couple months. I applied over 25 years ago and forgot about it and got a letter in the mail months later saying I could select 3 different cities and report for duty.

There are three general counsel positions I applied for in San Antonio. One with the army medical command, and two with the air force. Both of them pay far more than any other job I've found, and it would be worth moving from up here to San Antonio. It would be great if they could hire me in the summer lol.

I'd love to. Hopefully I could get the wife on board. We might have a child custody issue to deal with, but I bet we could work with my step kids' dad with it.

Everything depends on the job you applied for and department. As others stated, could take up to 3-6 months to get hired from start to finish. It only took me 2 months from the time I put in my app to official hire date.
