We're not experts, but had a great show! Not smart enough to invent a gadget to keep them up and moving.

Quality feed, quality water, clean shavings, time in the coop.

The darkness at night prevents the birds from having a heart attack. Although when the lights come back on they will eat...but that's not the purpose of darkness.

We walked through ours with rubber boots and turned the shavings over every time. Walked them 3 times a day for 15 minutes.

Get the famous baked feed recipe. And spray pure chicken fat on their dry show feed.

We weighed ours beginning at 3 weeks. We discarded the light ones. Did that every week until the show.

And don't wash them...it will put them in shock and they will not eat.

All the tips I mentioned were straight from Dr Thornberry of A&M. He judged our county show. Brother and I placed Reserve Champion 4 times..3rd 4 times. We never won that thing...but was in top 5 every year but 2

Dr Thornberry judged our show the year my oldest Son won. He knew his chickens.

When we were showing we were could take ALTERNATE in case one got hurt or kicked the bucket before weigh in.
when you show them it is best to have three people to hold them. Always hold them even with each other remember the judge is looking for a pen of 3 that match. Someone else might have two birds better than yours but if your set of 3 match then that will go a long way. Good luck. What every you do don't let then run out of water.

Good job! I enjoyed showing broilers growing up and learned some valuable lessons throughout the years.
