I have a 680 Honda Ricon. Nice bike but I had to do over I would have went with a foreman or rancher. Way too much wheeler for me. 400 size or smaller is enough for me.

Honda or Yamaha. I have 2 of each and looking for another. Honda are waayyyyyy over rated as the "best" They are great, but the Yamaha wins in everything compared equal. That said I'd buy a Honda in a heartbeat at the right deal. I've put over 6k miles on 2 different ranchers and almost 7k on a grizzly and our newest one has about 2500 on it.

Both great brands. Only negative with smaller than the rincon is finding a rancher with independent suspension. The straigh axle have those gawd awful drum brakes. Might as well have an anchor.

My '05. Almost 500 hours of Rocky Mtn use. No problems. Only requires oil, air cleaner, & tires. This 500 size is nice because when I do get trapped or high centered, I can get off and move it.

Dad has an '04 Foreman with less miles. Same story.

Uncle has 3 Hondas. 250, 300, & 440 (450?). Those are the real test group. His grandkids are always getting them off the ground.

So what is considered High mileage and hours?
When do things usually start going wrong?

500cc is usually the dividing line for the larger 4 wheelers?

I also see no one mentioned Kawasaki. The specs on the "brute force" look good.

I had a Suzuki kingquad that I really liked. I liked that I could manually lock the front diff for really sticky situations. When I go to buy it will either be another kingquad or a Honda foreman.

Yamaha Grizzly 550 Has independent rear, 4 wheel disk breaks, good speed, smooth ride(better than comparable Polaris), lockers, power steering...and will go anywhere you want it to go!

Honda or Yamaha is what i would go with. They always run!

After working on a friends Artic Cat, you couldn't give me one. Lot of $ for a POS.

Like I mentioned I have a 550 Yamaha with over 6k currently as well as a Honda rancher with over 6k and I'd hop on ( and do daily) and go anywhere without concern. Only repairs on either were brakes on both and cv axles on both. But what expected with that much use. Neither have had covers removed. And I'm in " mud" daily.... But I don't abuse them at atv parks

Over 3000 miles is "higher". But no where near wore out.

man, like the others have said. HONDA, tough as nails. we have a 94 and a 96 and to this day they are bullet proof, been rolled, swamped out and everything in between and still go down the road.................that is the reason they hold their resale value so well. I now hunt and work out of a honda big red 700 and it has been nothing short of perfect......2200 hard miles and still rollin.
