    Evolution.....

    Do you believe in evolution?

I was thinking to gain knowledge from a civil technical (non-religious)discussion on why you would believe or disbelieve in evolution. This is not about adaptation. In my opinion a cat is a cat and always will be a cat.

I personally do not believe in evolution. I have a real hard time believing that genetic code, DNA, chromosones, ect ... developed from life originating from a single cell organisms.

Another thought I had was that it is incredible that the most higher level animals, be it dinosaurs on down to modern day amphibians, mammals, birds, ect have two eyes, a tongue , one nose, 4 limbs, ect, which in my mind indicates the genetic code had to have been developed a lot longer before they existed.

How could something that had no brain, eventually figure out how to develop an eye that could gather different frequencies of light and and have vision, with color? How could it know about taste, smell, touch and develop all the abilities to process these?

So, from a non-religious, logical point of view, this is why I don't believe in evolution.

I guess there is logic that shoot down each one of these ideas, from a lot more educated people, so lets hear it. Remember, let's be civil. It's just a discussion.

Will there be a test at the end of the discussion?

No tests, lol...just trying to see if great minds think alike. No, really I just don't believe everything I am told from the higher authorities and try to use my brain to analyze something, but I also need new insight from other people.

Time for the annual evolution debate that will spiral into a name calling thread?

I don't. Man has been on earth and recording his observations of nature long enough to have a recorded instances of evolutions. It also doesn't provide an adequate timeline to deliver the diverse flora and fauna on earth:

It seems like science demands proof for the things they believe . . . except in regards to evolution. There is no proof that macro evolution has ever taken place. Also, evolution goes against the second law of thermodynamics, which basically states that the disorder in the universe always increases. If macro evolution ever took place, it would have gone against that.

I believe in evolution. It is a simple and logical progression. I think the reason most people can't understand it is that they can't fathom the hundreds of millions of years it took to develop from single celled organisms to now.

But, quite simply, there were single celled organisms. Some of them were more successful than others. Then, as now, the most successful were the most likely to procreate and pass on their successful traits.

you nailed it. when people think of evolution they are actually thinking of adaptation. huge difference. I'll leave this here and step away lol

Evolution is a scientific theory not a law. Theories require proof to become law.

Ever been to the welfare office? Proof the strongest, smartest or healthiest are the most likely to procreate
