Can be really good if the acorns aren't too heavy and if you have good neighbors. Can be some really big deer

I don't believe there is a lot of hunting going on around it, it's just s few miles outside of town

          Maybe you are our neighbor.

We have been outside of Gustine since 1996. We have never had big deer, but you can always take a doe. We have turkey on the neighbors land, but we never get them on our side. The hogs come through periodically. We have had a problem with poachers (hog doggers, dove hunters, and deer poachers).

It is different from year to year. Some years we have no neighbors hunting, other times it sounds like WWIII.

A couple of years ago the meth heads tried to steal the ranchers ammonia. It blew up on them. They then tried to rob Blood Trails truck. They got caught.

Is this the norm for the area? Definitely not just looking for a place to kill does

We have taken about 3-4 bucks in the last 6 years, but we don't hunt it hard. They were all about 115". We see plenty of small bucks that don't make antler restrictions. We may see a spike or two, but they are only yearlings and grow out of it the next season.

We are probably 20 miles from there. Killed the deer in my picture this year in November.

I would be worried about all the roads in that area. Area is kind of open. Is there still dairies around there? You might have good deer if there is. I used to hunt next to a dairy in Hamilton and lots of deer until it shut down. If its cheap enough you might try it. Now that we have the location of the property, I hope no one steals it from you.

the houses concerned me more than the roads do

My dads side of the family lives in Comanche. All are hunters and on time to time I have hunted there as well. The deer are big bodied and plenty of turkey. I killed a turkey there that had a white fan. Pretty cool.
