    Duck Call of Choice?

What is your go to duck call? Brand, model, sound, and why?

I really haven't moved passed the Double Nasty II by Buck Gardner.

      I blow mostly a Haydel's DR-85 & a Cutt Down double reed cocobolo.

The third call I carry I usually trade out some of my old vintage calls from time to time.
Olt 66, Yentzen, Scobey, Dennison, Duc-Em & Faulks. Just cause I like old calls.

Don't forget you can do a whole lot with a whistle.

Haydel's "red leg mallard" is about as good as cheap calls get. I get a new one every 2-3 years instead of trying to clean it. They'll freeze every now and then but not very often. It has to be REALLY cold for it to be a problem. I have an old wooden yentzen backup for those days.

These are the only two calls on my lanyard this year. Echo on the bottom, RNT on the top. My dad is a purist Echo guy so I cut my teeth on them (literally) but I'm not super brand conscious. I like them because they're local guys, they're durable, and they just sound good in the woods!

A $10.00 acrylic double reed Buck Gardner that we gave away at our Delta Waterfowl banquet and two custom single reeds from a buddy in Mo that builds calls.

I can't roll my tongue to feed call so I started making my own so I could make a more effective feed call sound. I enjoy being able to experiment with different sounds and woods.

I make and sell a fair share with quack wacker inserts and people tend to like them over the echos.

Haydell dr85. I have all of the other expensive calls but this little call is my "go to"

My go to call is a DuckLander Quiet timber. I bought it when they were a newer company out of Olate , Kansas. Their prices have gone up about $30-40 since then. Its a quiet call, good for the late season ducks. I can get a lot of various tones. Takes less air to call than an RNT but more than an Echo. I know some folks with Echo Calls and those calls are pretty sweet. Easy to blow, and you can get a lot of different pitches out of them. I'll be adding some Echo to my lanyard next. I used to like to Foiles "straight meat mallard" but once he went through his whole ordeal, they were impossible to find and I didn't really want to support his brand.

This is my main call as well. Just sounds down right ducky on the feed chuckle. Now, I'm not a high baller at all (not really needed anyway) and never will be or want to be. I'm sure this call will do it, just not me behind the mouthpiece. Mine is the redneck.

Off the Shelf - Echo Timber

                            Custom - Cadence Calls

If you don't know how to run a call then stay quiet and/or learn to use a whistle.
