    Polaris Ranger Turf Mode

I've searched but came up short I guess. After all these Rangers on here someone can help me out I'm sure.
My question is, what are people putting these through to destroy their rear ends?
I'd like to think my Ranger is capable of going through a little mud without blowing up. The way people sound on facebook, turf mode better be the next thing you do after unloading it at the house from the dealership.
Anyone had problems with it? If so what were you doing at the time?

I can circle the problem. They're rubber, round, black, heavy, and full of huge knobs.

Polaris, or any manufacturer, does not design their driveline parts to withstands those type tires. You have to build your machine to handle that type of upgrade. If they designed them to run those weight and type tires they'd cost 30k. Which is about what one that's purpose built for that, and reliable, will cost you.

I could be mistaken but I believe "turf mode" is the selection where only one wheel is operating or something of that nature. The rocker switch on my 2015 900xp has three positions and I believe this is the bottom one. I use it around the house.

I run my STOCK '09 model 700 in turf mode 99% of the time. Since I bought it, only maintenance and one battery. Some folks could tear up an anvil with a rubber hammer.

I have a 2008 700XP. If this^^^^ is correct, I run mine like this 99% of the time. The only issue I have had with mine is the 4 wheel drive quit working. Iit was a broken wire that I spliced back together and all has been fine since. I have not even replaced a belt in mine!

This is correct. Turf mode is for use around your house and yard. It helps keep from cutting ruts and tearing up lawn grass. The other selection is normal 2 wheel drive mode which basically keeps the rear differential locked. Good for traction, but it can cut up nice lawn grass while making turns.

So for me, turf mode for around the house. Standard 2 wheel drive mode at the lease unless conditions require 4wd.

As for people tearing up Rangers and other UTV's. Well, there's a reason a lot of those after market modifications will void the factory warranty.

You're right. It basically unlocks the rear axle. Allowing the inside wheel to turn slower than the outside. Doesn't tear up a surface as bad.

My 08 Crew blew up a spicer rear end in under a 100 hours. No hard use, no pulling trailers, etc. By blow up, the right hand side bearing actually broke and busted a 2 inch hole in the casing. I finally had a dealer tell me they had an internal problem with that particular rear end and several were shearing bearings. It was a manufacturing problem. Officially Polaris would never admit it, but there is info out there on the Web.

Now, they refused to replace mine under warranty, and for me to buy a new kit to rebuild the entire thing was gonna be about 1,000 bucks, I chose to drive it until it completely failed.

Well Im still driving it in 2 wheel drive to this date, and use it almost every day. Im sure it will finally give out at some point. But until then.....knock on wood.

The ones on mine are only 28s. Yes they are a little bigger than factory but not like others I've seen.

It's not necessarily about size. It's about weight and aggressiveness. Terminators are about as heavy and aggressive as they come.
