    6.0 Powerstroke stalls when cold

My 6.0 powerstroke has been dying when I put it in drive when it hasn't warmed up for about 10 minutes. It idles and revs fine in neutral and I can even drive slowly in 1,2, or 3 until it is warm then shift into drive. Once it is warm it is smooth and runs great. It's bulletproofed if that makes a difference. Thank you!

FICM fuel injection control module. I'm a ford diesel tech, if you check dtcs and it has all injector codes and or a p0611 its a FICM.

Mine did this and I unplugged FICM on the left side of engine. Ran fine that day and had replaced the next day.

I'm located in Cypress. My scangauge II is not picking up any codes and FICM voltage is a solid 48-48.5 V.

Head to Santa Fe and go to Bubba Pyle's shop on FM-1764. The guy is a magician with Fords.

I get a little bit of black smoke every once in awhile but usually none.

It could be a stuck open egr valve, are you checking that's voltage at idle or loading the engine because that will make a difference

Stiction, fuel pressure, could be many things

The fuel pressure won't cause it to run better after it warms up, stiction is another possibility but he likely would have noticed it continually getting worse over time not just all of a sudden type thing. either way add two bottles of Rev-X to your oil and run it in to town and back and the next day it should be improved if it's not in fact a bad FICM.

Clean the egr valve really good and re-install. If that doesn't work unplug the FICM and see if that helps. Knock out the easy fixes first and go from there.
