June isn't too bad with the bugs around Venice. There is always something around that may bite you. No bugs on the open water trout fishing. The deeper you get in the marsh the worse they get. I would not let them discourage you.

Hate to burst your bubble, but you can only keep 15 trout on Calcasieu.

              Hackberry Rod and Gun.

speck1 can you recommend a lodge that has a Cajun boil feast after the trip maybe as an evening thing or do most fishing lodges camps have something like that, my wife had never had anything of the sort til we met and I took her to the boiling pot in rockport some 20 years ago..........

I say you make a trip to the lower Laguna and slam some reds. Best place to fish imo. Click image for larger version

I have fished the Upper Tx coast, Sabine, Bessie Heights, Keith Lake(my fav Tx spot) over to Sabine Natl Refuge to Big Lake, Moss Lake, Lake Charles. Im here to tell you, there is nothing like Louisiana Saltwater fishing.

I haven't fished the Lower Coast of Tx, but my son has and he says there is no comparison. He said the Lower Coast is special but cant compare to La.

From your initial thread request, snatch up a flyrod and go fish the Hopedale area, Land of the Giants! I so want to go over there! Talked to the guy at BP in Pearland, he goes there often...that should tell you something.

Yep. South Texas bay fishing is fun. But big lake and Sabine are the best there is!

Can't help with Venice, that's French territory. But if you're open to come a little further west check out Hackberry Rod and Gun. Top notch!
