once you fish the LA Delta or Venice, you will be spoiled for life

not only is the MS River Delta the greatest fishing estuary in the world, check out this map detailing the number of rigs (yellow dots) that you can hook up to and catch anything that has gills

LA's generous daily fish limits / open year round

    redfish - 5
    specs - 25
    flounder - 10
    mangrove snapper - 10
    YF tuna - 3

In addition to the fishing, Texas has beaches, bikinis, beer bongs and the water is clear and the sand is white.

No contest advantage Texas. Add to that a hot mesquite fire to cook your catch right there on the beach with the sunset.

If yoi are using Galveston as a comparison......well you are doing it wrong. If you have never been to SPI.......well you just dont know. Lol. Louies Backyard, the constant flow of party boats with bikinis bouncing and beats blasting, the fireworks show over the LLM, etc.

This^^^^ You can keep FIVE TIMES more trout in La. Also, this may have changed since last time I went but guides used to be able to keep a limit too. So, two guys could go out with a guide in S. Texas and keep 10 trout or go to La. and keep 75 trout.

I caught that Red on a wacky worm fishing for bass one evening after work.

Ten minutes before my son caught that spec he landed a bass on the same lure about 50' away from where he is in that picture.

I've also caught catfish in my crab trap behind my house and we also have a blast shooting gar.

Never know what your gonna catch!

And on the other side of the Laguna.....we get this.

10 bucks, get's you into this show. You can't go this cheap anywhere else folks.......no where!

The LARGEST BARRIER ISLAND IN THE WORLD - Untouched and unspoiled.

Wade fish or boat the Laguna Madre at sunrise for a quick limit. Launch out of Bird Island basin with a flats boat, fish a bit and nail a limit, then drive over to the beach, and setup for all night on sharks. Using a beach side and or bay side base camp, you can fish both worlds from the same staging location. And the best part of it............

.....You can pull a trailer, boat and or pitch tents. Take the kitchen sink and shower if you want to....both worlds are separated by a mile or less of dune, grass and white sand.

No place anywhere else...can you do this, and roll with all of your gear in your absolute control. I know, I've been on every coast, literally 20 years living and fishing this zone everywhere, in the USA. Add a few close friends into the mix, everyone onboard with the plan.....the sky is really the limit!

SOUTH TEXAS - THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE USA AND OR THE WORLD!

SOUTH TEXAS FOR THIS TEXAS BOY!

Billy Sandifer...for those in the know.

Bite my butt Florida....you can't roll the sand LIKE WE DO..WITH CLEAR AND CLEAN WATER......CAN WE SAY PARTAY!!!!

What's FLORIDA?!?!?! ..... OR CAPE HATTERAS FOR THAT MATTER?!?!?!

Real western with a nautical twist!

                  Nasty water...real nasty!

                  Mangrove snapper.....mmmmmm mmmmmm MMMMMMM!

Let's see......snook, then speck, then redfish, then mangrove snapper, then jack crevalle, then skipjack, then bluefish, then spanish mackerel, then king mackerel, then pompano, then cobia, then tarpon....hell I'm tired of casting my lures and not knowing what's gonna hammer my expensive baits!!!!

                  Nasty water!

Out front a clear and essentially clean Gulf of Mexico and behind, the Laguna Madre. It's another world in South Texas!!!!

Not everywhere. It's 15 in the southwest part of the state.

Again, not everywhere. In our part of Texas you can keep 10 still and 15 in the adjoining La waters. That's only 50% more.

I catch 30 and give green jeans 5

pretty sure the 15 fish limit is specifically for Big Lake (Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes) ?

White Lake and Vermillion Bay still has a 25 catch limit

Will be interesting to see what you do Coy-ote. I have fished Texas salt my entire life. We do have a great fishery here but it is different. The quality and quantity here are much more dependent on your skill level. 10% will have a great day while others struggle to scratch out a few fish. This is almost never the case with the delta region of LA. Anyone with a fishing rod can catch something there. I have seen barefoot kids catch a limit of reds in a ditch next to the road. I love the Laguna Madre but in no way can it compete with Louisiana. Sometimes you have to leave Texas for different water. You can't sight fish Permit in Texas. Snook numbers are coming back but you won't catch 30 a day in skinny water here like you can in Florida. The Venice area is unique. Even if you don't go down there this trip you should take your family at some point.

I lived in South Miami 3 years...fishing Biscayne Bay the Florida Keys and the Bahamas all the way out to the leeward islands of the Caribbean. Sailfish from a skiff....kind of strange but it's doable there. And the 10 - 13lb largemouth bass, in the canal systems of Miami, cast hookup, cast again - snook, cast - tarpon rolling, Oscars and Peacock bass.....all in ditches around Miami. I fished them all the time, next to my home close by.

Biscayne Bay, in the lights of Miami, during the winter time shrimp migration.....tarpon, snook, barracuda, snappers and groupers all around Government Island, Coast Guard moorings, between the strand and downtown. Night time fishing the Biscayne bay lights, it's extremely productive with so many species....all hammering arties.

I was going to mention South Florida, Biscayne Bay below Coconut Grove down past Homestead and that Atlantic side to Key West and the Florida Bay over to Naples but, not many have ever been there, and it's so far in front of the North Western Gulf States it's not even fair.

The Chesapeake Bay, Currituck and Pamlico Sounds are also very very good areas to fish but, it's too seasonal. Hammer gray trout and specks, all of them schooling in the same waters feeding on spot or small bunker.

I've been very fortunate but....I also gave up a lot to have this opportunity.

I still have some old LEFTY KREH fishing charts of the South Everglades and Florida Bay from the Upper Keys to Naples.

I miss it but don't miss living there.

We need to meet sometime and talk about fishing. I fish out of Flamingo mostly. My old Redfish Cup partner is a guide there. Benny Blanco. That is one of my favorite areas on earth.
