    Name this tree

Can anyone tell me what this tree is? Obviously it's dead but I have quite a few of these on my property and they are all dead. Wanted to figure out what they where.

Maybe a cedar elm? Where are they located?

        Name this tree

        New Braunfels

Any idea why they would all be dead and only this kind of tree is the only dead one on the property?

Could be cedar elm, but the gnarliness of the main branches make me think live oak as does the wood texture on the trunk where bark is missing.

Don't know if oak wilt affects live oaks, but disease would be my 1st guess. Looks like there bore holes in the trunk. No way to know if those are post mortem or not

I'm with Playa, maybe a Cedar Elm but they typically don't grow erratic branches like that. Looks like some dead live oaks, and oak wilt will affect live oaks.

Elm or Cedar Elm. The long bark on the tree makes me think that. Live oak trees have small pieces of bark.

Those trees make good firewood. Not as good as oak, obviously, but still good for an outdoor fire pit.

Not a live oak for sure, the bark had me thinking some kind of elm but wasn't 100% sure. Not sure if this will help but the wood looks like this.

Found a live one that had not dropped all its leaves yet, leaf is rough to the touch not waxy

I'm thinking cedar elm after doing the steps to ID by leaf. Any idea on what would be killing these trees?

Definitely not a pinion pine. Looks like a cedar elm.

                          Yep Cedar Elm
They can suffer drom blight, maybe why you have several dead
