I am a storm damage restoration contractor. State Farm will NOT speak with any contractor regarding a claim unless there is signed work authorizations. After that, the contractor can only speak with the field adjuster or the review specialist. That's it. So for the roofer to state that is BS. As long as there is visible signs of storm damage, wind or hail, the worst that could happen is a depreciation value on the existing roof. If you have an ACV policy on your home or the roof alone, they will depreciate the value by percentage per age year of the roof. Minus deductible+ depreciation value and that's what they should cut a check for. Plus any interior damage of course.
