Ha ha ha...The lessons we learn with little critters. They have to look at you to spray. But this one most likely let loose because it was stressed or scared.
You need one of these for skunks. A acetone syringe.
They are many remedies to get rid of that smell.
I used to be able to tolerate skunks but developed a hate for them after I got sprayed. I go out of my way to take them out. I'll swerve to hit them on the road I if I have to. A buddy of mine is the same way. He got sprayed by a skunk in a empty stock tank. He went to fill the tank up,saw something move and got blasted with stinky stuff. How that skunk managed to get in the horse tank I'll never know. But I know it couldn't swim very good.
No good deed goes unpunished!I am not a fan of skunks. They are hard on ground nesting birds not to mention the rabies issues.I kill every one of them I see--- from a safe distance.
Been there, done that. As an old trapper, I've taken shots several times. Have to tell you tho, if it gets in your hair you may have to live with it for couple weeks. Even after multiple showers, that distinct smell will resurface when you get hot and sweaty. Will eventually fade away thankgoodness.
For future reference they stomp their front feet before they spray. Next time just blow it out of the trap with a .243 or a 3 1/2" turkey load and come back when it's done stinkin.
