Open invite for a duck hunt Tuesday the 12th. DFW area

My girlfriend is busy and my usual hunting buddies gotta work. I should be off work tomorrow and if so I'll have a spot or two open to hunt ducks. All my spots will be on public land so expect to be up fairly early. All the places I hunt are within a 2 hour drive from north Dallas, most are about an hour or less. We can also try out any spots you have as well if you know the birds are there.

I have my own decoys, layout blind, decoy sled, and motion decoys. Have a boat to use as well depending on where I decide to hunt.

Shoot me a PM if interested. You'll need the typical stuff, license with endorsements, stamp, and depending where we go, you might need your type II APH.

Went Saturday morning. Saw hundreds of ducks but they were skittish and didn't want much to do with the decoys. We still got one short of a two man limit. Mix of Widgeon, Ringnecks, Gadwals.

Anyone noticed low teal numbers this year? We usually are covered up with them. We've not shot a single one this year. Had a single hit the water just out of gun range Saturday.

What general area of the state are you hunting?

I was thinking that the other day, normally teal would be half our limit if we weren't being picky and just trying to limit quick. All my hunts have been big ducks with maybe one or two teal. This year is the most woodies ive seen in all my seasons duck hunting. Might be in part to all this flooded timber we now have in North Texas.

We piled the teal up during teal season though

Woodies were abundant around Texoma and Wa****a River.....Plenty of Mallards this weekend too. Birds didn't want to hear calling. Kept the spreads small.

We only had 10 decoys out, one of which was a mojo and the other a feeder. You are right about the calling though. They wanted nothing to do with it. We would have groups of a dozen or more circle for minutes and if you tried calling they would jettison. We picked all ours up with singles or groups of 4 or less. That were coming in no matter what anyway.

I've noticed the ducks down here in college station are skiddish too. Been hunting the mallards pretty hard the past couple of days and had to just shoot them over the trees. Had a few that would drop in under the trees but they would never land on water.

Lots of birds to be found on the rivers if you have the free time to get out and find them. My buddy hunted a spot in southern oklahoma and said every turn in the bend would have 100-200 mallards eating acorns.

Unfortunately I'm stuck to ponds this year and it's been a drag!
