Elk Hunt Recommendations

My dad and I are finally going to try and make our dream of hunting elk come true, and I would appreciate any help possible on finding a good outfitter. We would ideally like to do an archery / muzzle loader hunt, but are open to suggestions. We are not after record class bulls, just a chance at a quality bull. He is 75, but physically more like 65, so it needs to be lower impact. I don't think he can do a hunt where we would have to go full out, up and down mountains all day.
I hope that we are not too late for a trip this fall, but we kinda procrastinated, and he isn't getting any younger. lol I had planned to go to the DSC Convention this weekend, but we had some family come into town kind of last minute, preventing the trip.
I got lots of really good information on the thread I posted for good boots, I hope that you can help me out on this also.

Try dan@rockingrhunting .com. I have read several threads on bowsite from guys that hunted there and have communicated with him myself. He has some private land backed up to public and hunts from semi-easy to hard core. This may be your cup of tea. If I were going, this would be my pick.

I go to C Bar Z outfitters every year and I have never had an outfitter work harder. Larry can and will accomdate the hunt for your dad. PM if you would his contact info...

I've heard the gila outfitters are really good.If I remember right they would customize the hunt however you wanted to..Partially guided,all out,etc.

We haven't really talked budget yet, but he is selling a piece of property, some of which is funding this hunt.

I just sent him through a PM Folsom phone number. I went last year and saw your picture on the wall a few times.

IMO Folsom would fit him perfect since he hunts a lot of small to big properties with different types of hiking.

Me and another TBH'er are going with streateroutdoors.com. He comes highly recommended and provides landowner tags. Supposed to be a fairly easy hunt due to the terrain. But pretty pricey. I can't really afford to go, but selling a kidney to make it happen. =D He may be booked.

This one looks really good but may be too physically hard for the OP (maybe?)

Are you going in 2016 Chew? I'd go on this one but have to wait to see if I get drawn first and by then I'm sure he'd be booked up.


After reading the website I'd have to avoid unless I called and talked to him. I can't stand the following rule (unless it's only there to reduce jackwagons LOL) But it sure would suck to wound a bull and him end the hunt early.
