A Lonesome Dove trivia question

In the credits at the end of Lonesome Dove they give special thanks to Willie Nelson. Does anyone know why ?? It's after they give thanks to several ranches so did they do some filming on his land ?

I have no idea why, but then again, I have never made it to the credits to see the mention of Willie, because I always skip those and go straight into the next movie lol. I'm interested to find out the answer though...

If I remember correctly, quite a bit of the scenes filmed in Texas were on his ranch in Spicewood.

Some of it was filmed on the Moody in ranch in Del Rio, some of the set is still up next to the river.

Not sure about the answer to the question but I'm a huge fan of that movie.
My moms boss, Dr. James Moore, owned at the time of the filming, the Wainwright mansion in Fort Clark Springs. When they filmed in the Bracketville area, Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, and Robert Ulrich all rented Dr. Moore's house to stay in. After all was said and done, they all left an autographed photo of themselves and a few movie props as gifts of thanks to Dr. Moore. I can't remember what Ulrich left but Duval left the pistol that he was supposedly using when he shot the shot glass and whacked the surly bartender with and Jones left the quirt that he used while riding the hell *****. Dr. Moore has since sold that house, but he definitely took those items with him. He use to let us go out there and stay at the house on vacation it was cool to see and be able to handle those things

Awesome story! Like all of you, I'm a huge fan of the movie. You guys need to do yourselves a favor and get into the books if you like to read. I'm almost done with Dead Man's Walk, the third of the four book series. They are awesome!

this is 100% true, i hunted on that ranch for years. They have taken most of it down now though, was a fire hazard. The pueblo hut was still there, the bridge was too. BP busted like 1000 lbs of ganja out of that pueblo hut one night. they set it up to catch the guys, nobody ever showed. Bp is about as corrupt as the cartels.
