I get notifications about the "quit dipping support thread" and I don't even look at them because I feel it might help me quit. Doesn't make sense, I know. But it's an on going war in my head. Driving, hunting, fires, anything outdoors makes me want it ten times worse and I'm always around it. Seems like there no way out. I'm almost scared to quit because I love it so much.. This is the first time getting this off my chest and it feels good. My goal is probably the last day of season because I know trying to quit while still in deer season will be near impossible. Good luck bud, also to the other fighting the fight.
I quit the first time using the nicotine patches. I was clean for 7 years until I had a few drinks one night. I fell into the trap that I could have just one dip and be good. I really, really enjoy the long cut Copenhagen. I finally got to a place in my mind that I wanted to quit. You will never quit unless you truly want to. I went to the Doc and got some Chantix. I have been snuff free for a month. I know that I can never take a single dip or I will be hooked again. Good luck to you brother.

You have to truly want to quit. I decided to quit after about 15 years. Used nicotine mints, altoids, and sunflower seeds. Now I can't stand any of them. Been snuff free for about three years. You can quit if you really want to. Good Luck.

I quit cold turkey goin on 4 yrs. now. It sucked then and sometimes it still sucks. I used welbutrin up until about a yr ago and it helped alot. U just have to be mentally strong. After 4 or so days the nicotine is out of ur system. It's all mental past that. Good luck.

Everytime you want a dip go wash your neighbors truck or buggy or El Camino. If that doesn't work clean his shop or mow his yard. Still not enough to give it up? start scrubbing the sidewalks with a brush or maybe pressure was the rock around the bottom of his place.
You stop a bad habit, he can take more naps. Everyone wins.

Ive tried 4,5,6,7 times. If you arent truly tired of it, you will fail!!! I really enjoy it and will quit when I am honestly required to. It satisfies waaaaay to much, for 25+ years now.

You have to hate the idea of snuff as much as you've loved the taste for all these years. Do it for yourself. I quit almost 10 years ago right after I got saved. I was sitting reading the bible with a dip of snuff and felt lead to quit. Turned it over to God and never looked back. Best choice ever. It will help to have Him along for the ride.

To those of you who think you've tricked your wife/kids into thinking you quit when you are still dipping a can a day.....YOU HAVENT. Unless your wife/girlfriend/whatever has a completely dead nose (and is also blind) she knows you are still dipping. No way they can keep from smelling that distinct odor. Ask me how I know.

It's funny and sometimes interesting to think about the things we do to our bodies as we go through life. For those wanting to quit, just consider it as something you decided to do for a while and tell yourself you tried it, liked it but are now ready to move on. Especially since there is a very good chance that you will ultimately come down with some kind of cancer (oral? colorectal?) if you do it long enough. Oh how I would kick myself if I came down with it because I dipped for 20+ years and was too blind to see what damage I was doing to my body. It really is about instant gratification vs. long term care of the only body you will ever have.

There is so much to say. For those who seriously want to quit, DO IT. Get help if you need to but do it. Take care of your body. Nicotine is a drug and a very powerful one at that. Don't let it control you any longer.
