I'm supposing that this is your first one? If so, it'll go something like this if you "let it run it's course".

It will continue to fester for a few days. The center will become so tender that you can't hardly touch it. It will have fever all around it bad enough to feel the heat coming off the skin around it.Then it will start seeping watery **** out of it. Somewhere right before that happens, you'll start feeling like you've been hit by a truck (flu like symptoms). I mean hurting in every joint of your body. Eventually after about a week of this, your body will somewhat start fighting it off and it could/possibly/might/will get better, if not, you'll have to amputate if it gets bad enough. I'm not joking that it could possibly kill you.

Take my advice, get the meds NOW and start taking them. You are well on your way to the worst part of it, but the meds will lessen it.

Oh, and yes, that's why you got dizzy, etc. Forget about the gym and all while you're contageous with it (yes, you are contageous). That's probably where you picked it up too. It's on your body all the time, but you can get "infected" with it anywhere at anytime. Wash your hands frequently after doctoring it or whatever. Especially around small kids and elderly folks.

Bingo. This is accurate. The notation above on tendon rupture following administration of certain antibiotics for staph is absolutely accurate as well. Rupture can occur months after administration. Take it easy. Good luck.

Well hell, thanks for advice. Yes its my first one, I figured I should probably stay away from the gym with it. Didnt realize I had staph until I went to the Dr. this morning. I'm going to get my meds in about 10 minutes when I go on my lunch break. I appreciate it, hopefully it wont be as bad as yours, I'm supposed to go out of town tomorrow

I had one like that and it got out of hand. Had to have emergency surgery to remove and was in the hospital for 5 day. The day I got our the test came back is was MRSA. Had a hole that had to heal from inside out for several weeks.

I did meet my wife when I was in the hospital. :-)

I got bit by some type of spider and it welped up about the size of a coffee cup lid. In the very center was a "dead spot" that finally peeled off and oozed some nasty stuff and i could see two small puncture wounds where it got me. I would post a pic but its pretty close to the stick and berries!

I sold bacteria detection and antibiotic sensitivity testing equipment to hospitals 30 years ago. I would not venture a guess on what it is.

What I will say is infectious disease should be treated by an infectious disease specialist, and if your doctor was a general practitioner, I'd find a specialist for a second opinion quickly.

Looks just like my friends leg that had staph. A weeks worth of high strength antibiotics and it cleared up.

I remember the daily taking off of the bandaid..the alcohol qtip that seemed to disappear for miles into my arm and then packing gauze back in it. Fun times.

Those Dr's and nurses are sadists...........I swear they are. It don't matter how much you cuss, scream or wiggle, they just keep digging at it. lol

I'm pretty sure I've left my finger impressions in a few of their exam tables from gripping so hard.

This is what can happen when you don't get on antibiotics soon enough. Not fun.
